Proff API

# MCP

You can access Proff API data directly from compatible AI assistants using Model Context Protocol (MCP) (opens new window).

The Proff Premium MCP server is available at:

https://api.proff.no/mcp

You can connect the server to MCP-compatible services such as ChatGPT and Claude.

Requirements

You need a Proff API account and a valid Proff API key to connect to the Proff Premium MCP server.

All Proff API tools available through MCP are read-only.

# ChatGPT

Custom MCP apps require developer mode to be enabled for your ChatGPT account or workspace.

  1. Log in to ChatGPT.

  2. Go to Settings → Apps → Advanced Settings and enable developer mode if it is not already enabled.

  3. Go to Settings → Apps → Create.

  4. Enter a name for the app, such as Proff Premium MCP.

  5. Enter the following MCP server URL:

    https://api.proff.no/mcp

  6. Select OAuth as the authentication method.

  7. Click Scan Tools.

  8. Complete the OAuth authorization when prompted.

  9. You will be redirected to apiadmin.proff.no. Select the Proff API key you want to use and approve the connection.

  10. Wait for ChatGPT to finish scanning the available tools, then click Create.

The Proff Premium MCP app will appear under Settings → Apps → Enabled Apps.

You can now select the app from the tools menu in a new conversation or refer to it directly in your prompt.

Because all Proff API tools available through MCP are read-only, you may choose to allow them without requiring confirmation for every request.

# Claude

Custom connectors are available on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Free users can add one custom connector.

# Free, Pro, and Max plans

  1. Log in to Claude.

  2. Open the Connectors page. In the current interface, go to Customize → Connectors.

  3. Click the plus sign and select Add custom connector.

  4. Enter a name for the connector, such as Proff Premium MCP.

  5. Enter the following MCP server URL:

    https://api.proff.no/mcp

  6. Click Add.

  7. Locate the Proff Premium MCP connector and click Connect if prompted.

  8. You will be redirected to apiadmin.proff.no. Select the Proff API key you want to use and approve the connection.

The Proff Premium MCP connector is now ready to use in Claude.

You can enable or disable it for individual conversations from the Connectors menu.

# Team and Enterprise plans

An Owner or Primary Owner must first add the connector for the organization:

  1. Go to Organization settings → Connectors.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Select Custom → Web.

  4. Enter the following MCP server URL:

    https://api.proff.no/mcp

  5. Click Add to make the connector available to the organization.

After the connector has been added, individual users must connect their own accounts:

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Locate the Proff Premium MCP connector.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. You will be redirected to apiadmin.proff.no. Select the Proff API key you want to use and approve the connection.

You can enable or disable the connector for individual conversations from the Connectors menu.

Connection issues

If you are not redirected to apiadmin.proff.no, or if authentication fails, disconnect the connector and try connecting again.

If the issue continues, remove the connector and add it again. Contact support if you are still unable to complete the connection.

Organization restrictions

Your organization may restrict developer mode, custom apps, or custom MCP connectors.

If you cannot add or connect to the Proff Premium MCP server, contact your workspace or IT administrator. Proff cannot change restrictions or settings managed by your organization.
